Invisible braces could be just what you need if you are self-conscious about your tipped, rotated, or crooked teeth. If that gap between your teeth is preventing you from smiling, Invisalign® could be the answer.
According to Dr. Jeffrey Gilmor from the Glen Dental Center in Glenview, invisible braces work just as well as conventional braces without the discomfort and pain that comes with old school wires and brackets.
What are Clear Braces?
Invisible braces from Invisalign® are clear and comfortable. The clear aligners that are custom made to fit your teeth will gently move your teeth and gums into position in 12 to 18 months with some patients seeing straighter teeth in just six months.
What is the Invisalign® Treatment Plan?
If you are a good fit for invisible braces, Dr. Gilmor will take digital pictures and x-rays to determine your Invisalign® plan. Your information will be sent to the Invisalign® lab for manufacture. Once your aligners are ready, you will be issued with 11 to 31 sets of invisible braces.
Your new clear braces will need to be worn 20 to 22 hours every day. The only time you will remove your invisible braces is when you eat and clean your teeth. You need to be diligent with your Invisalign® treatment plan. If you don’t wear them when you are supposed to, it could lengthen your treatment time.
Invisalign® or Braces
Braces can be uncomfortable. Every time you see your dentist, your braces will be adjusted, pulled, and pushed, which can be quite painful. Clear braces are comfortable and convenient, as you will only need to visit your Glenview Cosmetic Dentist every six weeks or so to make sure that your Invisalign® treatment is doing what it is supposed to do.
